3-16-20 Update from Divine Redeemer

Grace and, especially, the peace of Jesus be with you all in this time!                                                           3-16-20

The Apostle Paul addressed a real-life congregation when they needed to be equipped by God to face the anxieties of the world head-on.  The Holy Spirit inspired Paul to tell them words in their time that are just as important for followers of Jesus today.  Paul writes: Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:5-7)

In this letter to Christians, Paul encourages them in two ways: to be reasonable and prayerful and as they are doing so, they experience Christ’s peace.

Here’s what we’re doing in order to reasonably care for God’s people and maintain wisdom in our Church family gatherings. Our staff met Monday morning and discussed at length what options Divine Redeemer Lutheran Church and School should take to keep our DR family healthy from the Coronavirus.  Per the recommendations from the Waukesha County Office of the County Executive, Paul Farrow, and the continual updated guidelines from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for mass gatherings, the staff here at Divine Redeemer has decided to suspend all on-campus gatherings until further notice.

This will include:

  • Sunday Worship services
  • Midweek Lenten Worship services
  • Bible Studies
  • Youth group activities
  • DivorceCare
  • School
  • Day Care
  • Any and all meetings

We will continue to monitor the CDC guidelines as they change and follow the recommendations from our Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow in the days and weeks to come. At this time however, we strongly suggest every one stay home to maintain social distancing for the prevention and spreading of COVID-19.

Also during these two weeks of spring break, the school staff is working on ways to continue providing education to our students via online resources. Enjoy your break and look for details coming soon.

We have asked our hired cleaning crew to completely wipe down all desks, chairs, counter, ledges, door knobs, push bars and all touch points while the students are not in school. The cleaning service will also come in a few days prior to the students return to school and use a spray gun with a sanitizing solution and disinfect the whole school and church. The return date is still unclear at this time.

Here’s what Divine Redeemer is doing to encourage your life of worship and prayer: as of March 22, we will be providing a new pre-recorded stream for traditional worship at 8 & 10:30 AM and a new pre-recorded stream for contemporary worship at 9:15 AM for you to watch on Sunday mornings. You will be able to access these worship streams via our DRLC app on your phone or our website ( We will also provide via email a devotion and prayer for you and your family to use on Wednesday nights in place of Midweek Lenten worship.

Our church also has an online Bible Study tool that you are always welcome to enjoy through StudyGateway.  It’s like a Netflix streaming service for video Bible studies with thousands of studies from which to choose!  Send an email to Pastor Seth ( if you need access.

God’s grace and peace to all of you!
