PENTECOST SUNDAY

The Scriptures share many accounts of God coming down to earth. From the moment of creation when “the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters” (Genesis 1:2), God has come down to this favored planet many times and in many ways. On Pentecost, God the Holy Spirit came down to earth in a most dramatic way, fulfilling the promise of His descent that Jesus had made to His disciples. That blessed Spirit continues to come among God’s people, calling, gathering, enlightening, and sanctifying them. As we gather, we witness to that Spirit at work among and through us.
